We pitched for UW Botany Club a couple days ago… so seeing as we are an astrobotany website, we are coming full circle and now pitching for UW Astronomy Club as well!

Here’s the pitch:

Are you interested in astronomy? If you have a career interest in astrophysics, or if you simply want to learn more about the cosmos, we invite you to come check out the UW Astronomy Club. This club was just created this Fall and we’re all excited to deepen our knowledge of the most fascinating things in the universe.

We plan to do this in our meetings with mini-lectures from our members and guest speakers, and discussions about all things relating to astronomy, from constellation mythology to telescope design. And, of course, there will be no shortage of pretty space photos. Outside meetings, we plan to design projects where our members perform real science, visit local observatories, take stargazing trips, and encourage children to pursue careers in astronomy by attending events and schools around the city of Madison.

Our kickoff meeting is Monday, October 16 at 5:00 pm in Room 4421 of Sterling Hall. Come join us as we explain the club and discuss future events, and stick around after to watch the critically acclaimed film Interstellar. Pizza and drinks will be provided.

You can join their facebook page here.

Let’s grow plants in space and also attend UW Astronomy Club.  – Kai
