The TOAST database is a data visualization tool developed by Dr. Richard Barker, Dr. Sarah Swanson, and Dr. Simon Gilroy in the Gilroy Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It is a collection of genetic data derived from spaceflight plant biology experiments. Data was mined from the public NASA GeneLab repository. On the dashboard, each panel represents an individual experiment/ecotype/assay. By clicking on a panel you can quickly apply filters to discover significant genes being expressed. Researchers and students may use this tool as a way to choose a starting point for molecular biology technique and to explore genes of interest in spaceflight.
The team at astrobotany.com is interested in novel approaches to genetic research. By hosting this powerful tool, courtesy of Qlik, we hope to promote the bridge between bioinformatics and wet lab molecular biology.
