As both an artist and a scientist, astrobotany really caught my imagination. Astrobotany as a field of science seems to be artistically accessible due to an intrinsic beauty associated with both space and botany. While other fields of science such as physics, chemistry, or math find difficulty capturing physical representations of their work, both botany and astronomy have been consistently captured in paintings, observations, and photographs over time. I like to think that the image of a plant in space evokes deep feelings for many people. For me, it’s the juxtaposition of a small green life in an endless, mysterious void that really makes astrobotany related artwork special to me. What makes it speak to you?
